This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while driving a strong, visible safety culture across the plant. This position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, and contractors to reduce risk, improve safety performance, and support continuous improvement aligned with company HSE goals.What you will be doing:Site Safety & ComplianceOversee daily safety programs across the site Ensure equipment inspection programs are maintained by Production and Maintenance teamsManage safety signage, postings, and communication boardsLead and support plant-wide safety meetings and drillsAudit safety practices and provide actionable feedback on compliance gapsSupport development and implementation of site-specific safety improvementsPrograms & Contractor Management Administer plant respirator program and ensure department accountability Partner with Purchasing and Operations on contractor safety managementInterface with contractors on safety expectations and performanceRecommend and implement program improvementsPersonnel Safety & Industrial HygieneIdentify hazards and recommend corrective actions Serve as an active member of the site Safety CommitteeMaintain a strong field presence to promote safe behaviors and reduce riskSupport incident investigations and corrective action trackingAssist with industrial hygiene monitoring and reportingEmergency ResponseSupport site emergency response and natural disaster preparedness Coordinate and participate in emergency response trainingManage inspections and testing of fire protection and emergency equipment (extinguishers, hoses, SCBA, escape packs, Level A suits)Reporting & CommunicationParticipate in site safety meetings and leadership reviewsTrack and communicate safety metrics, action items, and compliance statusRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or associate’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field3–5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or chemical plant environmentProven history of stability and long-term contribution in prior rolesWorking knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulationsExperience supporting safety training, audits, and compliance programsStrong communication and ability to work across all levels of the organizationAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced plant environmentProficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferredMust be willing to work rotating shifts and support on-call emergency responseMust be able to obtain a TWIC cardExperience in a union environment preferred 9/80, if preferred or 5 days a week
