Snapshot of the RoleAt Husco, safety isn’t a program, it’s a value. The Safety Specialist is a hands‑on, highly engaged safety professional who plays a critical role in driving safe work practices across Husco’s North American facilities. This role maintains a strong presence on the production floor, working directly with employees and leaders to identify hazards, assess risks, ensure OSHA compliance, and continuously improve safety performance.This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and plant leadership to implement effective safety programs, lead investigations, support training, and promote a proactive safety culture. What You’ll DoSafety Program Execution & Continuous ImprovementMaintain a regular presence on the production floor to observe work practices, coach employees, and reinforce safety expectationsConduct routine inspections, safety walks, and area assessmentsSupport the development and execution of annual safety training plans, including safety training and toolbox talksRisk Assessment & Hazard MitigationPerform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with operators and supervisors at the point of workIdentify hazards and implement engineering, administrative, and PPE controlsSupport industrial hygiene efforts including noise, air quality, and chemical exposure assessmentsAssist with emergency preparedness and contingency planningCompliance, Audits & ReportingSupport OSHA and other local, state, and federal safety reporting requirementsParticipate in or lead internal audits, inspections, and corrective action follow‑upAssist with ergonomics evaluations, PPE assessments, and environmental/sustainability reporting (including ISO 14001 support)Incident Investigation & Corrective ActionRespond promptly to incidents and near‑missesLead or support investigations using root cause analysis methodologiesDevelop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actionsSupport injured employees through the workers’ compensation processCollaboration & PartnershipPartner with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and HR to influence safe work practicesParticipate in reviews of new equipment and process changes to identify safety impactsDeliver quarterly safety updates to leadership and support safety committee goals across North American sitesWhat You BringBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum three (3) years of experience (ideally between three and six years) in workplace safety. Preference is in a manufacturing or industrial environmentWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, incident investigation methods, and workers’ compensationHands‑on experience conducting JHAs, safety inspections, and risk assessmentsExperience developing and supporting safety committeesExposure to industrial hygiene assessments and ergonomic evaluationsExperience supporting ISO 14001 or similar management systemsStrong communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levelsAbility to spend extended time on the production floor and meet physical demands of a manufacturing environmentWillingness to travel approximately 10–15% within the MidwestWho We Are: Imagine a place where your career can soar, where innovation meets excellence, and where your contributions truly matter.
