In this role you will be responsible for implementing and managing safety and regulatory compliance programs for fiber construction and telecommunications operations throughout our CA markets. This role ensures compliance with CA/OSHA and related regulations while supporting injury and incident prevention across project planning, field operations, and contractor oversight. The Safety Manager works closely with field leadership to promote safe work practices and strengthen a prevention-focused safety culture on high-risk construction projects.Why TAK?Full TimePaid Bi-WeeklyCompensation: $85K - $100K annually, DOEFull Benefits Package (Medical, Dental & Vision)Paid Time Off401(k) with Company Match!25K Company Paid Life InsuranceIndependent Work & Team CollaborationCareer Development & Advancement Opportunities!The RoleImplement, maintain, and enforce company safety programs in compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8, OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, and California Labor Code requirementsMaintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and site-specific safety plansSupport Cal/OSHA inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries, including documentation and corrective action follow-upProvide safety support for multi-site fiber construction projects, including underground and aerial installationEnsure compliance and safe work practices for high-hazard activities, including confined space entry, excavation and trenching, overhead and underground power line safety, traffic control, and electrical safety (NFPA 70E)Verify completion and adherence to Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and pre-task plansConduct routine and unannounced field safety inspections and audits; partner with field supervision to correct unsafe conditions and reinforce safe behaviorsParticipate in project planning, design reviews, and pre-construction meetings to integrate safety requirementsSupport incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action trackingTrack safety metrics and trends and recommend improvements to reduce risk and prevent incidentsAssist with contractor and subcontractor safety prequalification, onboarding, and compliance monitoringTravel regularly to active construction sites throughout California and safely access jobsite environments, including excavations and right-of-way work areas (+/- 50% annually) Requirements 3-5 years or more of safety experience in telecommunications, utilities, or heavy civil construction requiredBachelor’s degree in safety, environmental health, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experienceAble to travel to various job sites throughout Northern & SoCal (+/- 50% annually)Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8 and California construction safety requirementsHands-on experience supporting high-hazard construction activities, including confined space, excavation/shoring, and power line safetyAbility to work independently across multiple job sites and collaborate effectively with field and project leadershipSafety certifications such as CHST, CSP, CIH, or equivalent are preferredExperience supporting large-scale fiber construction programs and working in union or multi-employer environments is a plusMust provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves drivingPassing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)The compensation and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting.
