Full-time Description The Sonance Manufacturing Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA (if applicable), NFPA, and local regulations, while proactively driving a strong safety culture across production, warehouse, paint, woodshop, and metal fabrication operations. This is a hands-on, floor-focused role that partners closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership to reduce risk, prevent injuries, and continuously improve workplace safety.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Compliance Ensure full compliance with OSHA 1910 standards, fire codes, hazardous materials, and local regulatory requirements. Maintain OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301) and manage incident reporting and recordkeeping. Lead regulatory inspections and act as the primary contact for OSHA, Fire Department, and insurance carriers. Conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-ups.Manufacturing Floor Safety Perform daily/weekly safety walks across production, warehouse, paint booths, woodshop, and metal fabrication areas. Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors; partner with leaders to implement corrective actions. Ensure proper machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, ergonomics, and PPE compliance. Support safe chemical handling, SDS management, and ventilation controls (including paint operations).Training & Employee Engagement Develop and deliver safety training programs (new hire, refresher, job-specific). Lead Safety Committee meetings, track action items, and drive accountability. Create and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Promote employee engagement and reporting through near-miss and safety observation programs.Incident Management & Prevention Investigate workplace injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures. Coordinate with HR and Workers’ Compensation providers on claims management and return-to-work programs.Continuous Improvement Track and report key safety metrics (LTIR, TRIR, near misses, corrective actions). Support Lean / continuous improvement initiatives with a safety-first mindset. Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous safety improvement.Experience & Qualifications 3–7+ years of hands-on safety experience in a manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 (General Industry) regulations and manufacturing safety standards Demonstrated experience supporting paint operations, machinery, warehouse, and production environments Proven ability to conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and employee safety training Strong communication skills with both hourly employees and leadership teams Ability to work independently while partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, and HR Bilingual English/Spanish preferredPreferred Certifications OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ASP First Aid / CPR / AED Instructor Forklift Train-the-TrainerKey Competencies Hands-on, floor-focused leadership Strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to influence without authority Calm, professional approach during inspections and incidents High attention to detail and follow-through Strong partnership with operations and HR Work Environment Manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, paint booths, warehouse operations, and production lines Frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting PPE required in designated areas such as, Manufacturing Safety Manager / EHS Specialist implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
