Position SummaryThe Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator implements the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs that ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role works closely with operations to identify hazards, prevent incidents, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.The EHS Coordinator plays a key role in implementing a proactive safety culture by engaging with employees, supporting training initiatives, and assisting in continuous improvement efforts across Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership Responsibilities Flexibility to support off-shift operations, as neededAbility to lead the response to incidents or emergenciesDemonstrate leadership in promoting a proactive safety cultureRegulatory Compliance Implements compliance with applicable regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), as applicableImplements maintaining required training records, and reportsParticipate in regulatory inspections and audits; support corrective action follow-upSafety Program SupportImplementing and maintaining EHS programs including:Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)Confined Space EntryFall ProtectionHazard Communication (HazCom)PPE and Respiratory ProtectionEmergency Action PlansSupport Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and safe work practicesConduct routine safety inspections and observationsIncident ManagementThe EHS Coordinator responds promptly to workplace injuries and medical emergencies and provides basic first aid within the scope of trainingAssess incidents and determine if additional medical treatment or emergency services are requiredCoordinate with emergency responders and provide clear communication during incidentsAssist with incident investigations, including near misses, first aid, and recordable injuriesSupport root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action trackingMaintain incident reports and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Environmental ResponsibilitiesAssist in managing environmental compliance programs:Air emissionsStormwater and wastewaterWaste handling and disposalSupport inspections and monitoring activitiesEnsure proper labeling, storage, and handling of chemicals and materials Audits & Continuous ImprovementConduct routine inspections and assist with internal auditsTrack audit findings and corrective actions to closureIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement Training & Employee Engagement Coordinate and deliver EHS training (new hire orientation, toolbox talks, refresher training)Track and manage data entry of training recordsPromote employee involvement in safety initiatives and reporting programsJob RequirementsEssential QualificationsWorking knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance requirementsStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizationBasic incident investigation and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Ability to influence safe behaviors and build trust with employeesOSHA 30-Hour (General Industry or Construction) certification (preferred)First Aid/CPR certificationEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field preferred but not requiredEquivalent combination of education and experience may be considered1–5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, or mining environment preferred Experience with OSHA/EPA/MSHA regulations is a plusLanguage SkillsAbility to read, write, and speak English.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
