Position may be located in Glendale, AZ, O'Fallon, MO, or Baton Rouge, LA (100% Onsite)Travel: Occasional (as needed to production and supplier locations)Bascom Hunter is seeking a Director of Quality Control to lead and scale quality operations across all company locations. This role is responsible for establishing, standardizing, and continuously improving quality systems that support aerospace and defense manufacturing and development activities.The Director will oversee a team of Quality professionals located at production sites and will serve as the central authority for quality compliance, inspection, and continuous improvement initiatives. This leader will partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Leadership to ensure consistent adherence to regulatory requirements and the highest standards of product quality and reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of Quality staff across production locationsEstablish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability measuresFoster a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvementQuality Systems & ComplianceOwn and standardize company-wide Quality Control processes and proceduresEnsure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and other applicable regulatory requirementsMaintain audit readiness and lead internal and external auditsInspection & VerificationOversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities across all sitesEnsure proper execution of First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102Drive consistency in inspection methods, documentation, and acceptance criteriaCorrective Actions & Continuous ImprovementLead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processesMonitor key quality metrics and drive measurable improvementsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Engineering on design reviews, drawing interpretation, and change managementWork with Manufacturing to address production issues and improve process capabilityCollaborate with Supply Chain on supplier quality, qualification, and performanceSupplier Quality OversightEstablish and maintain supplier quality requirements and audit processesSupport supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing performance monitoringLead resolution of supplier-related quality issuesDocumentation & ReportingEnsure accurate and complete quality records, inspection reports, and compliance documentationProvide regular reporting on quality performance, risks, and improvement initiatives to leadershipQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience7+ years of progressive experience in quality within aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing2+ years of leadership or team management experienceStrong working knowledge of:AS9100 and ISO 9001 standardsAS9102 First Article Inspection requirementsExperience with technical drawings, and precision measurement systemsProven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive process improvementASQ certification (e.g., CQE) strongly preferredWork Environment100% onsite roleRegular interaction with production environments, labs, and engineering teamsOccasional travel to other company locations and suppliersAdditional InformationAll positions at Bascom Hunter are subject to background investigations.
