Position OverviewThe project Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in protecting the health and safety of employees on active construction sites. This position works alongside Hays Electrical Services’ operations leadership and EHS team members to implement, enforce, and continuously improve safety programs, policies, and processes.This is a project-based, field-embedded role responsible for active hazard identification, compliance verification, and real-time intervention in high-risk electrical construction activities. The project Safety Coordinator is expected to positively influence jobsite behavior, reinforce expectations, and take decisive action to prevent incidents, with the overarching goal of ensuring employees return home safely every day.Key Responsibilities Learn, understand, and apply company safety programs, site-specific safety plans, OSHA standards, and industry best practices. Promote and support enforcement of Hays Electrical Services safety programs, policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain a consistent daily presence in the field to observe work practices, verify compliance, and reinforce safety expectations.Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and intervene immediately, including escalating concerns and exercising stop-work authority when imminent risk is identified.Support safe execution of electrical construction activities, including temporary power installations, lockout/tagout, energized work controls, and other high-risk tasks.Educate and coach employees and subcontractors to strengthen safety awareness, accountability, and jobsite culture.Support implementation and verify adherence to site-specific safety plans and project safety requirements.Coordinate with field supervision during work planning to ensure crews have appropriate tools, equipment, and controls in place prior to execution.Ensure all incidents, near misses, and injuries are reported to leadership in a timely manner.Support incident investigations, including data collection, and participate in root cause discussions and corrective action tracking.Conduct and documents required safety inspections, audits, and field observations.Coordinate and support safety permitting processes as required (hot work, confined space, ladder use, etc.).Maintain accurate and timely EHS records, including training documentation, inspection reports, permits, and incident records.Minimum Qualifications(Candidate must meet one of the following)Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental sciences, construction management, or a related field; or1-2 years of relevant data center construction safety experience; or1-3 years of field experience in electrical trades (including apprenticeship)Preferred QualificationsAbility to build effective working relationships with field personnelStrong written and verbal communication skillsOSHA 30-Hour Construction certificationFirst Aid / CPR certification
